Axiomatic Set Theory

This course (Axiomatic Set Theory) will be lectured in English in the Spring Term of 2003.
Course status:
Advanced undergraduate level course, worth 5 credits, intended for students specializing in mathematical logic.
Lectures in spring 2003:
Lectured by Dr. Taneli Huuskonen.
Timetable: Mo 12-14 in P722 and We 10-12 in SII. Lecture hall SII is located at the Dept. of Mathematics (Yliopistonkatu 5) on the 4th floor and P722 in the Porthania building (Yliopistonkatu 3) on the 7th floor. The course starts on Monday, January 20, 2003.
Exercises: The exercise class will be held on Tuesdays at 10-12 in SII, starting on January 28, 2003. List of the exercises
Contents:
The aim of the course is the understanding of set theory as a formal first-order theory, based on the Zermelo-Fraenkel axioms with choice.
Examinations:
To pass the course, a student has to take a final exam, which will take place in May. The exact date and place will be announced later. A second examination will be arranged for students not passing the first one.

The course is based on the book K. Kunen: Set Theory - An Introduction to Independence Proofs (Elsevier Science B.V. 1980)
