Scientific activities:

My research activity is mainly related to the physics of complex fluids. In particular I work on reactive flows and non-Newtonian fluids, using a numerical approach and dynamical systems techniques.
Some general aspects of (advection-)reaction-diffusion I am interested in are the role of Lagrangian chaos, quenching phenomena and the small-density limit of a system of reacting particles.
On the subject of non-Newtonian fluids (as, e.g., polymer solutions and binary fluids) I am interested on the transport of active fields and its interplay with turbulence dynamics.

More recently I got interested in problems connected to the stochastic (Schramm) Loewner Evolution (SLE). On this topic I collaborate with Paolo Muratore-Ginanneschi and Antti Kemppainen, carrying on numerical simulations.

I graduated in physics at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome in July 2003, under the supervision of prof. Angelo Vulpiani with the master thesis Reazione-diffusione in situazioni non asintotiche.
I attained my PhD in physics at the University of Torino (within a joint project with the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis) in December 2006, with the thesis Non-Newtonian turbulence: viscoelastic fluids and binary mixtures, under the supervision of prof. Guido Boffetta and dr. Antonio Celani.

Since I joined the mathematical physics group in January 2007, I have been involved in TEKES "Multimodel" project on multiphase fluids.
