Helsingin yliopiston Matematiikan ja tilastotieteen laitoksella kokoontuvassa Satunnaisverkkojen (-graafien) seminaarissa sekä opiskellaan aihepiirin perusteita että käydään läpi tuoreita papereita, erityisesti sovelluksia tietojenkäsittelytieteen ja tietoliikenteen aloilta (mm. vertaisverkot ja suurten verkkojen mallit).
Seminaari soveltuu matematiikan ja tietojenkäsittelytieteen opintojen loppuvaiheessa oleville ja jatko-opiskelijoille. Perusteoksia klassisista satunnaisverkoista ovat Bollobas: Random Graphs (Cambridge University Press 2001) ja Janson, Luczak, Rucinski: Random Graphs (Wiley 2000). Syksyn aiheita voivat olla mm. erilaiset "pienen maailman" verkot, stokastiset algoritmit ja satunnaiskulut verkoilla, äärettömät verkot sekä uudet algebralliset tekniikat.
Seminaari kokoontuu torstaisin 16-18 Exactumin salissa B322 ja sitä vetävät dosentit Tapani Lehtonen (tapani.lehtonen@hkkk.fi) ja Ilkka Norros (ilkka.norros@vtt.fi). Esitelmät pidetään suomeksi tai englanniksi kulloisistakin läsnäolijoista riippuen.
Ensimmäinen kokoontuminen on 6.9., ja syksyksi ajateltuihin aiheisiin johdattelee I. Norros.
The Seminar on random graphs of the Mathematics and statistics department of the University of Helsinki studies as well the basics of this area as recent papers, in particular such on applications from computer science and telecommunications (e.g. peer-to-peer networking and models of large networks).
The seminar is suitable for advanced and PhD students. The basic reference books are Bollobas: Random Graphs (Cambridge University Press 2001) and Janson, Luczak, Rucinski: Random Graphs (Wiley 2000). The topics of this fall may include various "small world" networks, stochastic algorithms and random walks on graphs, infinite graphs, and novel algebraic techniques.
The seminar meets on Thursdays at 16-18 in Exactum's room B322 and it is led by docents Tapani Lehtonen (tapani.lehtonen@hkkk.fi) and Ilkka Norros (ilkka.norros@vtt.fi). The talks are given in Finnish or English according to the people present.
The first meeting will be on September 6, with an introductory lecture by I. Norros on some topics planned for this fall.
