On-site registration
The desk for on-site registration will be opened at 2 p.m at
Porthania and is open until 8 p.m. Thus the desk will open two
hours earlier than indicated in the 2nd announcement. The desk
will be open on Tuesday from 8 a.m to 2 p.m. Thereafter the
registrations may be made at the Mathematics Department which is
the building next to Porthania across Vuorikatu and along
Yliopistonkatu.
The following map shows parts of Porthania and Heimola which is the
home of the Department of Mathematics. The on-site registration desk
is inside Porthania. It is not shown on the map but should be
easily visible once you are inside Porthania. The map shows also
the lecture halls PII and PIII in Porthania and SI at Math Department
where we will have talks.
Opening
The Colloquium will be opened on Tuesday August 8 at 9:30 a.m. The
first lecture will start after the opening ceremonies at 10:00 and
is given by Lennart Carleson with title "100 years of complex analysis".
Social Program
Reception by the City of Helsinki
The City of Helsinki will offer a reception at the Old Court House
(Vanha Raatihuone) on Tuesday August 8 at 6:00-7:30 p.m. Letter H
marks Old Court House on the map below.
Colloquium Excursion and Banquet
The Colloquium Excursion and Banquet take place
on Thursday 10th August. The letter N marks the starting place
of m/s Natalia on the map below.
M/s Natalia will take us to a cruise at 3:45 p.m. We will see
some of the beautiful
archipelago surrounding Helsinki. We will land at the
old fortress island Suomenlinna (Suomenlinna means "Fortress of
Finland") where we will have a guided tour. The dinner will be served
at the restaurant Walhalla and the evening ends with a recital of
classical guitar and flute.
There is a charge of FIM 150 for the Excursion and Banquet. This
covers everything, also the dinner. If you want to participate,
please sign up preferably at the on-site registration and not
later than Tuesday.
Fractal exhibition
Centre Culturel Francais invites all participants of the Colloquium
to the inauguration of the exhibition "Fractal World" on Wednesday
August 9 at 18:30. Letter F marks the Center Culturel Francais
on the following map.
